Clarence Leroy Stich, 81, formerly of New Sewickley Twp. and Ellwood City died on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Providence Care Center following an extended illness.

Born January 20, 1932 in Fombell, he was the son of the late John C. and Grace Drushel Stich. He was married for 57 years to Imogene Gallaher Stich, who survives.

Clarence was formerly employed at the North Mill of J.& L. Steel Company, the United States Postal Service and the United States Census Bureau. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He founded “Pap Pap Creations”, where he made wooden crafts and sold them at many festivals, including the Ellwood City Arts and Craft Festival. He was a member of many clubs including; Model Railroad Club, Beaver Valley Vagabonds, The Lunch Bunch and the Green Valley Park Recreation Board. He enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the United States and Canada. He traveled to Jamaica on a Mission Trip. He also enjoyed model trains, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Imogene, survivors include three daughters, Vicki (James) Henley of Rochester, Patti (David) Phillippi and Bonnie (Timothy) Phillippi, both of Ellwood City; a son, John (Michele) Stich of Phoenix, Maryland; sister, Helen Pfeifer of Girard, Ohio; sister in law, Gladys Faull of Ellwood City; nine grandchildren, Michael (Victoria) Phillippi, Timothy (Allyson) Phillippi, Jamie (Ryan) Wellman, Kristin (Daniel) Minkus, Jennifer (Jordan) Curcia, Rachel Guidry, Valerie Henley, Caitlin and Lauren Stich; and nine great grandchildren, Mikayla, Kaylee, Madison, Jianna, Nathan, Joelle, Sophia, Maddie, and Layla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Martha Marshall and two brothers, Robert and Earl Stich.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 1, 2014 from 4:30 – 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 11:00 am with Rev. Daniel T. Callahan officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Charlotte Jean Maggi, 65, of Old Rt 18, Wampum (New Beaver Boro) went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2013. She passed away at Jameson Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born July 31, 1948 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Charles Fosnaught and Virginia Huffman Fosnaught of New Castle. She was married for 43 years to James A. Maggi as they were married on October 3, 1970. He survives.

Charlotte graduated with high honors from Lincoln High School and then attended Nursing School at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. She worked as a nurse at the Ellwood City Hospital. Charlotte was a member of First Church of God in New Castle. She enjoyed bowling at Park Lanes and was a member of the Kastle Klowns. Charlotte was an active member of the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) where she was the former treasurer. Her most precious time was spent with her family and she will be missed by all.

In addition to her husband, James and mother, Virginia, survivors include three sons, Charles (Kristi) Maggi of Wampum, Brent (Jodi) Maggi of Newburgh, IN, Timothy Maggi of Evansville, IN; and four grandchildren, Madeline, Rachel, Cayden and Devin Maggi.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Dale Fosnaught.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. William Hunley officiating. Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Russell B. French, 85, of March St., Ellwood City died on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.

Born June 6, 1928 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Lawrence C. and Alice Leubin French. He was married for 62 years to Lillian Durbin French who survives.

Russell graduated from Lincoln High School and continued his education at Penn State University, graduating in 1950. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Following the war, Russell moved to Long Island, New York in 1952 and worked as an Electrical Engineer at Sperry Corporation for 32 years. Following retirement in 1984, he returned to his hometown of Ellwood City. He was Lutheran by faith.

In addition to his wife, Lillian, survivors include a son, Howard (Jo Ann) French of Falcon Heights, Minnesota; a daughter, Judy Thomson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister, Dorothy Hoffman of Jacksonville, Florida; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son in law, William Thomson.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 1 from 1 until the time of the funeral service at 3 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Pastor Dick Allen will officiate the services. Entombment will follow in the Slippery Rock Mausoleum.

Phyllis Evans Truby, 82, of Denny Schill Manor, Ellwood City died on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Evergreen Nursing Center following a brief illness.

Born July 5, 1931 in Wampum, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sara McCarron Evans .

Phyllis graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She formerly worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill and the Ellwood City Public Library. She most recently worked at the Denny Schill Manor. Phyllis attended Lillyville Church of God. She enjoyed reading and helping people.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana Truby of Ellport, Sue (Justin) Svihra of New Galilee; and two grandchildren, Eliza and Krysta Svihra.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John”Jack” Truby in 2006, a brother, Robert Evans; and three sisters, Barbara Baros, Louise Evans and Roberta Evans

Visiting hours will be held on Monday December 30, 2013 from 2-4 and 6 until the time of the funeral service at 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Services will be officiated by Pastor Vince Snyder.

Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Kenneth D. Douglass, 89, of Douglass Rd., Beaver Falls (North Sewickley Twp.) died on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the his residence.

Born April 30, 1924 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Edward T. and Anna Patterson Douglass. He was married on September 1, 1948 to the love of his life, Glenda “Genie” Hammond Douglass, who survives.

Ken retired in 1985 with 35 years of service from B & W Steel Co where he was a turn chemist in the lab. He was an active 75 year member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. Ken graduated from New Brighton High School in 1942 and attended Geneva College. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in England from 1942-1945. He was a Board member and Manager of the North Sewickley Twp. Water Authority for 55 years. He was a member of two retired men’s breakfast clubs which allowed him to eat double breakfasts at Christy’s Restaurant. He was also a former member of the North Sewickley Grange and the North Sewickley Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, “Genie”, survivors include two sons, Gregory (Janice) Douglass of North Sewickley Twp., Robert H. Douglass of North Providence, Rhode Island; daughter, Mary Ellen Douglass of Franklin Twp.; brother, James (Marilyn) Douglass of Concorda, Kansas; two sisters in laws, Belva Pantoni and Dawn Hammond, both of Midland; six grandchildren, Alison D. McKinney, Benjamin E. Douglass, Andrew G. Douglass, Thomas F. Douglass, Robert H. Douglass, and Jean Ann Douglass; five great grandchildren, Nolan and Connor McKinney and Jacen, June and Samuel Douglass; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and Sunday from 1-5 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Friends will also be received from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am on Monday, December 30th at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in New Brighton. His pastor Rev. Jordan Rimmer will officiate.

Robert E. Vesco, 75, of Johns Lane, Wayne Twp. died on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at his residence. Although in ill health, death was unexpected.

Born July 3, 1938 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Jay and Bessie A Harriff Vesco. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Babco*ck Vesco.

Bob retired from Koppel Steel in 2002 where he was a millwright. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Bob loved to play tennis and pickle ball. He also enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. His most cherished time was spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jo, survivors include two daughters, Kim (John) Schuster of Ellwood City, Lynn (Craig) Bruton of North Carolina; a sister, Alda Derrow of Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Cynthia Jo Vesco Simpson who died in 2001 and three brothers; Jay, Kenneth, and Donald Vesco.

Friends will be received on Friday December 27 from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 at the Knox Presbyterian Church. His pastor, Rev. Elizabeth Wallace will officiate.

Alan L. Anderson Sr., 84, of Carriage Court, Shenango Twp. formerly of North Beaver Twp. went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2013 following an extended illness.

Born May 10, 1929 in New Castle, he was the son of the late John L. and Dorothy Brest Anderson Sr. He was married for 61 years to Doris McConnell Anderson who passed away June 14, 2012.

Alan retired from Agway in New Castle. He was a member of the Moravia Presbyterian Church. He had formerly been a member of the Church of Genesis and the First Assembly of God Church on Pulaski Rd. Alan was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include five sons, Alan L. Anderson Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia , William (Alicia) Anderson of Hamilton, Ontario, Fred (Janice) Anderson and Robert (Tammy) Anderson, both of New Castle, Ron (Sue) Anderson of Wampum; a former daughter in law, Kathy Anderson of West Pittsburg; a brother, John L. Anderson Jr. of Florida; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Anderson

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday December 26 at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home on Friday at11:00 am with his nephew, Rev. Eugene McConnell officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in Castleview Memorial Gardens.

Irene Doutt, 95, formerly of New Castle passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her residence in Granbury Villa in Granbury, Texas.

Born April 11, 1918 in New Galilee, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Sarah Reed McCready. She was married for 58 years to Clair M. Doutt who passed away March 16, 2004.

Mrs. Doutt was a member of the Calvary Independent Church on Moody Ave. in New Castle. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Michael) Dixon of Granbury, Texas, Patty (David) Allen of Hendersonville, North Carolina; sister, Marie Langlotz of Camp HIll; brother, C. Pat McCready of New Galilee; son in law, Rev. James Thomson of Hammond, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Thomson; a sister, Virginia Bright; and two brothers, John I McCready Sr. and Donald McCready in infancy.

Friends will be received from 11 until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm on Saturday, December 21 at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St. Wampum.

Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery.

Robert Carlisle Bollinger, 75, of Bridge Street, Ellwood City died on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his residence.

Born July 15, 1938 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Carl M. and Marion Clyde Bollinger. He married Mary L. Lample Bollinger on March 21, 1964. She survives.

Robert had worked at US Steel, Blum Coal Co, and SS Processing. He was a member of the Hungarian Club in Ellwood City.

In addition to his wife, Mary, survivors include a daughter, Tammy Bollinger Taylor of Weston, West Virginia; son, Robert (Mary Jane) Bollinger of Ellwood City; four sisters, Nellie Miller of Evans City, Mary (Don) French of Slippery Rock, Connie (Ed) Miller of Ellwood City, Virginia Bollinger of Ellwood City; four brothers, John (Nancy) Bollinger of Ellwood City, Ray Bollinger of New Castle, Paul (Gloria) Bollinger of New Castle, James (Donna) Bollinger of Beaver Falls; two grandchildren, Justin Taylor, Leslie Freshkorn; and two great grandchildren, Cydney Smith and Cayden Freshkorn.

He was preceded in death by brother, Carl Bollinger, son in law, Jeff Taylor, great grandson, Ethan Poling; brother in law, William Miller; and sister in law, Ester Bollinger.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 17 from 3 until the time of the memorial service at 4 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Delores R. Smith, 81, of Third Ave., Koppel died on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Providence Care Center in Beaver Falls following an extended illness.

Born February 6, 1932 in Clarion, PA, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Rosie Mohr Benetti. She was married to the late Joseph T. Smith Sr.

Delores was a member of the Koppel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Joseph T. Smith Jr. of Wampum; brother, Larry (Trink) Benetti of Clarion; two granddaughters, Jaime (Torrey) Jones, Kristine Smith; one grandson, Joseph T. Smith III; and five great grandchildren, Noah, Nash, and Natalie Jones, and Katie and Joseph Smith IV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Marg Tremba and Virginia Benetti.

Per Delores request, there will be no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum.
